Around 57 million people in America had the issues of physical disabilities and this ratio is also expected to grow due to negative health trends. People still work with such disabilities and they merely consider it as a limit that restricts different life activities(de la Vega et al. 2016). Therefore, in America, nearly 19% of the total population suffers with disabilities. In the year 2016, 12.6% people had physical disabilities. Disability prevalence is also higher in minority groups such as American Indians, blacks and Alaska Natives. However, on the other hand, there are more than 650 million persons with disabilities in Asia and the Pacific. Physical disabilities typically causes because of brain injury, any serious illness and genetic disorders. People with physical disabilities have the major symptoms like rigidity of the limbs, abnormal posture, involuntary movements and unsteadiness of walking(Carreon et al. 2016). People with disabilities not only experience physical risk but they also have risk related to working in the workplace(Rimmer et al. 2014). Thus, among different physical disabilities, present study has been emphasizing on spinal cord injury. SCI is termed as damage to the spinal cord that brings transformations in the functioning of the body. Such changes arise in the form of loss of muscle function, develops sensation in the body and most often it leads to automatic functioning on the body parts. Further, in the study discussion has also been made regarding ergonomics investigations at the workplace(Gips, Zhang Anderson 2015). Person with disabilities have many risks and challenges while working at the workplace; hence all such challenges have been mentioned in the research work. Alongside, information about different tools for PWD is also discussed with its impact on the anticipated challenges. Lastly, in the study improvement plan is being made that can depict benefits for PWD. Findings In a construction business, there is a person who has spinal cord injury (physical disability) and who has half waist downwards paralysis(Schur, Kruse Blanck 2013). The person has been put to a wheelchair to help him in moving to different places on the site. This section is based on investigating the workplace where PWD is carrying out all his duties and tasks. As per the above image, it is clear that supporting tools are available at the workplace; hence the person will not be having any problem. Supporting tools play a crucial role for PWD as that helps the person to move to different places without any dependence on others. Apparently, the construction site is an open place; hence only a few amenities are available(Rimmer et al. 2014). Though the person has wheelchair; but long-term sitting is not suitable for him; hence vanity van is also made available for that person. Proper medical services are also available at the workplace; hence in the case of emergency PWD can avail such amenities. However, PWD has several risks due to construction materials which can also lead to the risk of falls. While investigating the workplace, it is being ascertained that person with a disability can conduct all his activities in a team work as many people are available for his support. At the same time, the person can also handle manual processes merely by sitting at the construction site (Rimmer, Lai, Young 2016). He can also manage paper work while sitting on the site and alongside, he can handle the process of controlling and monitoring. Since the person has spinal cord injury; therefore too much pressure on the brain should not be given as that might hamper the existing capability of work. There are many people who can directly support PDW; hence the person will be able to manage his work and tasks efficiently. Tools like Limb Support can be used for PWD wherein the person needs to keep the upper arms parallel to the spine and elbow at 90 degrees. However, the hands need to be resting on the table as that can aid in minimize the level of strain. Further, feet must also be at resting position on the floor, and it should be suitably aligned with the lower leg. In this respect, the right chair should be placed for the person so that lumbar support can be attained. At the same time, Rapid Upper Limb Assessment is useful in managing suitable body movements so that PWD can manage all its work activities in an appropriate manner(Simplican et al. 2015). Thus, in the present case, RULA tool can be adopted as it is based on observation which helps in assessing postural risks. It can also be used to ascertain the risk factors that can impact the overall health of the patient. RULA seems to be a valuable tool assessment tool which needs to be applied in specific ways especially when it is recommended by the experts and specialists; however the results are not absolute; still, it can be used in the current workplace. Another ergonomic assessment tool seems to utilize a systematic process which helps in evaluating whole body postural (Rimmer, 2015). At the same time, it also aids in analyzing risks associated with work activities and tasks. The tool is useful regarding assigning ranks and scores to the body regions and then afterward it is compiled with risk factors variables. The subsequent tool is also useful for PWD as through this daily work activities can be managed suitably. However, it will decrease the dependency of a person on others; therefore it can help in building the morale of the person. Therefore, it is clear that PWD will be having many difficulties while managing work at the construction site; however, on the other side, dependency on such tools can assist the person to regulate all the activities appropriately. With the help of such tools, PWD might be facing fewer issues and difficulties; hence this can enhance work efficiency and performance aspects(Mithen et al. 2015). REBA and RULA both will aid PWD in giving pressure to the body regions; hence this will manage the movement of body parts. Discussion Of Solutions And Anticipated Challenges As discussed in the above section, it is clear that there should be optimum solutions for a person with a disability so that he can manage all his tasks and responsibilities in a suitable manner. Thus, according to the challenges it is vital to adopt specific solutions for PWD. Normally, PWD is excluded from the normal work; hence it is essential for the workplace and other employees to include and engage them in all the processes(Hammel et al. 2015). They need to be given suitable rights in decision-making process along with normal employees. Movement problems affect PWD highly, and they also restrict physical movement of a person. Thus, as per the problem, it is crucial for the employees to provide necessary support services to the patients. This could be performed in the form of arranging wheelchairs and other essential tools. Proper arrangement of support systems can aid the person with a disability to reduce the dependency on others which can also enhance the motivation of the person. Automatic systems can be arranged and provided to PWD at the construction site so that disabled people can manage their work activities by themselves. However, they need to ensure that proper attention and care is being given to safety and security prospects(Travers, Tincani Lang 2014). It is also vital for the construction company to execute health and safety measures so that chances of accidents and uncertainties can be avoided. This requires implementation of legal acts and rules; hence this can also protect PWD from accidents. There should be proper amenities like a clean floor, security services, proper handling of machines and adequate transportation services. PWD are dependent on others; hence to reduce their dependency, it is vital for the workplace to render all the services to the person. PWD must be provided training so that the person can manage all the tasks and activity by himself. PWD person feels more discouraged when he feels dependent on others; therefore there should be an appropriate delegation of authorities among people(Mir et al. 2017). Apparently, PWD feels more insecure while working with normal people as they seem to be more competent in managing all the tasks and activities. Job insecurity is one of the basic threats that come under the mindset of disabled people; therefore workplace must give suitable confirmation about the job security. This will assist the person to manage the life in a balanced way. The below table will depict how these solutions will minimize challenges of PWD(Lai et al. 2017).
